A NEW YEARS RESOLUTION!!!

HELLO EVERYONE!!!

okay...so my news resolution is to post a tutorial every MONDAY, WEDNESDAY and FRIDAY.

now that the holidays are over, i will explain!---i decided to start doing tutorials october 20th for halloween, my most prolific time of year (to get a feel of what i was doing or if i even wanted to undertake such a task)---it proved to be very fun but i ended up realizing tons of mistakes and wished i would have started earlier than october 20! haha! ---so!!!! as i made videos of some fall designs, my problem was (now that its over)  i had over 100 christmas tutorials i wanted to show in less than 4 weeks and i had to narrow it down to where i could get at least a portion of that done.....so, at night i painted man nails for the basic tutorials!!! hahahahhahahah!!this was a HUGE task for my first year. i did it the very best i could and now there is a nice base of records and references for many years to come when i make new designs next year....if i would have known 2 1/2 months ago what i know now, i would have started earlier! so, now that that is over, i want to say this..........i am caught up....i have a good idea of what im doing and everything is in order! i want to thank everyone who kept up with me during these last months, it is has been absolutely amazing and so much fun :) i have met so many beautiful people who have inspired me to keep going and try harder and have made all of the extra work and late nights worth it :) thank you thank you  thank you!!!!

now, i can settle in and get a schedule of sorts....(that is not to say that i wont do a drive-by of 5 designs at once just for fun every once in awhile!!!! hahhahahah)

my other new years resolution is to ask for help. i have always done everything by myself. i have always worked alone, been very quiet and kept to myself....i never entered nail contests or left work really..........and i am ready to change that!!!!---- i know i cannot make any of my dreams come true by myself and i will ask everyone who watches and loves my work to please spread the word, the videos, everything and subscribe and tell others to--- because i really do want to paint gallery paintings full-time and show them around the world. i want to see the world instead of just painting in a corner alone. i am giving away my nail art so that i can create a fan base for my paintings so PLEASE help me get the word out :) i need you! that is very hard for me to ask!!!---- but hopefully i will learn to trust in 'ask and you shall receive!!" have a wonderful day and may 2011 bring you love and joy and happiness in your hearts ---and may you guys reach all your goals for the year!

much love and thanks,
robin

a question about pigments and brushes and how to use eyeshadows on nails for best results, using eyeshadow on nails, how to use eyeshadow on nails, painting nails with eyeshadow, tutorials for eyeshadow on nails, how to tutorial eyeshadow nails,

Hi Robin. It's me again. Lol...I have been watching all ur YouTube videos :-) can't wait for the flowers and Ed hardy designs.. I do have a question tho..in ur 1 video u talk about using pigments. Aka eyeshadow powders. Now how do I make the shadow to adhere to my nail? Is it hard to remove?
I have also seen ur tutorial on art brushes and cutting them. I have a stripper brush I bought at sally's. (3pk cost 17.00) I'm afraid to cut them cuz they cost so much. But my stripper brush just goes flat now. Is the brush bad? It's flattened only when I load it. Even if it's a lil it still flattens out :(. Idk y.
Oh and btw
YOU ROCk
All ur tips and tricks. The sharing u do is sooo awesome..

hi sandy!

it is not hard to get pigment off at all, just basic polish remover...but, getting it to adhere is tricky..

you can buy foil adhesive on ebay. nail art foiling adhesive, foil glue, foiling glue etc.
you can also go to the craft store and ask them to order foiling glue if they dont carry it
the other thing to note is that it should be thin and dry fast.....some foiling glues are for clothing and dry slowly. i have heard you can use "tacky" glue, but i have never used it. i have also heard you can use glycerine and water....i have not used that either.....i have used water and pigment mixed together but it must be very dry before topcoating...and here is the second thing..lol

when you topcoat it might 'crinkle' there is a chemical reaction to some foils......however, if it does...it should lay back down in about 5-10 minutes when the reaction is 'over' and then you topcoat with a second coat..............the reaction sucks.........some foils do it and you cant do anything about it..................however

howeverrrrrr....the ones who do work? ----look so frigging beautiful that it is worth practicing and learning how to use pigments or eyeshadows on nail art...also, you can match your nails to your eyeshadow perfectly and look very hot and subtle......i use pigment all of the time and each one i HAVE to test drive to see if it works.....

i hope this helps you!

as for the striping brush..........if it is real hair.....cut a few hairs off of the side (never the middle and cut them at the base...never half way down............just 'thin it out'...if it is still flat, its dead...if it comes back to life, yay!!!! synthetic hair stripers suck..............and 17 for 3 sounds like synthetic...a good striper brush costs me about 20 bucks each....but? who knows? you might have gotten a deal!!!!! anyway, the one i bought last has lasted me at least 9 years...so, its worth it!! she is getting old though and i will miss her when she is gone!!! xoxooxoxxo

you are so welcome for the tips and thank you so much for the questions!!!..tell everyone you can and i will be so grateful back to you! i am only one voice and i cannot do this alone!!! xoxoxooxox

do you use polish or paint as a basecoat?

i get this question a lot. i use polish first............i dont use a clear basecoat, but i use whatever polish im going to use first before i begin painting my designs. this creates a sandwich of polish/paint/topcoat.........and seals the art for long periods of time...

if you use paint directly on the nail, the oils from the nail actually go into the paint and pop the whole picture off whole! so that isnt good..hahahahahaah (unless you want to pop your nail polish off and make something with it later)

i hope this helps everyone who is reading and concerned and has this question!! i am so glad you guys are watching and asking and keep them coming! i have more videos up and on their way!

love,
robin
